Unlocking Opportunities Through Digital Literacy

Welcome to Digital Literacy CDS – a dedicated Community Development Service (CDS) group of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), passionate about driving digital transformation across Nigeria. We believe that digital literacy is not just a skill, but a fundamental right and a powerful tool for socio-economic empowerment.

Our mission is to bridge the digital divide, equipping Nigerian youth with essential digital skills for academic excellence and career readiness, and empowering local businesses to leverage digital tools for growth, efficiency, and expanded market reach.

Our Programmes & Initiatives

At Digital Literacy CDS Group, we implement hands-on, practical programs designed to deliver tangible digital skills.

Youth Digital Skills Certification

All the interested Corps Members are expected to Get Certified on Google Digital Garage after the Saturday events and do a 1 minute video on why they want to join the CDS. Successful participants will be given a letter by the Schedule Officer.

School Adoption for Digital Safety Practices

In addition, each of them will adopt a Secondary School where they will train and mentor 10 students about the benefits of the Web (Internet) and how to stay SAFE online and use the internet as a RESPONSIBLE Digital Citizen.

Build Digital Footprint

Using online platforms for job searches, resume building, e-learning, and research.

Business Digital Empowerment Series

Each member will put their places of Primary Assignments (if not) and 10 other MSME in their host community on Google My Business and assist them to develop a Digital strategy and support them to use the GMB and other Digital Marketing tools to grow their businesses ensuring at least 5 of them are listed on www.youthbizng.com and use Google Ads. optimize

Build Digital Career Path

Each member will be exposed to opportunities in Digital Economy and coached to identify a career path and mentored to acquire necessary Digital Skills that will help them succeed in their chosen career.

Solution Development Hackathon

Finally, each CDS will identify a problem in the community (like Benue: farming produce wastage) and see how they can use Digital technology to develop a solution (like www.farmtotable.ng) to compete in an annual Hackathon.

Our Goals

Every member should have a clear understanding of their Digital or Digital enabled career path.

Every member acquires 5 strategic, OnDemand, and soft skills.

Every member must belong to a Mastermind group of 5, supporting one another to succeed.

Every member must belong and be committed to one of the 4 project groups of the CDS.

All members must participate in the DL4ALL project in pairs, and train a minimum of 200 monthly in the informal sector in their host community
