TeensNomics
About Programme
Teensnomics is a specialized youth development program under the MindtheGap umbrella, an award-winning Nigerian social enterprise. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between formal education and the practical economic skills required for success in the 21st century.
The name is a portmanteau of “Teens” and “Economics,” reflecting its core mission: to introduce teenagers to the principles of the digital economy, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
It focuses on several key pillars to prepare teenagers for a productive future:
- Digital Literacy & Citizenship: Teaching teens how to navigate the digital world safely and professionally. This often includes training on “Digital Citizenship” and online safety.
- Financial Intelligence: Introducing young people to the concepts of money management, budgeting, and the “economics” of daily life to foster early financial independence.
- Project-Based Learning: Moving away from theoretical education toward practical, hands-on projects that solve real-world problems.
- Future Readiness: Preparing students for the “Future of Work” by emphasizing soft skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
